"Liberal"

Aug '09.

Recently In the face of a beautiful afternoon I found my self enjoying a succulent burger in a great bbq. Amongst friends, food and children running around the evening looked very promising.

As the conversations went from the traditional soccer team is not doing this or is failing to do such and such I caught my self paying attention to an interesting topic... Women in Leadership... (to be specific, in ministry) as some of the fellows opinionated theirs views and the women listen (but didn't voiced their thoughts), it was apparent to me that this was the conversation to zone in.

Five minutes in and there was a huge an interesting turn on the conversation... "women can preach, but they shouldn't be allowed to be the head of a church (senior pastor)" Guy #1 said... and after several traditional comments were voiced as to why women shouldn't be the head of this or the head of that let's just say that these dudes were no doubt straight up in your face take it like it is hard core old school.

Immediately I though of three international gospel super stars for the lack of a better description, Joyce Meyer, Paula White & Rachel Hickson, and naturally the fellows didn't know how to respond, you see time and time again people can question your faith, but cannot question your good works.

Guy #1 does not buy into their ministries either.... (wow) So naturally I asked him, in 30 years your little girl might be called to lead a church, are you saying that you won't support her? or in your own words "leave" such a church?

It's so easy to stand up for something until it affects you personally, actually it's rather funny to see how a person's opinion might quickly change, and just for the record the intent here and there was not in any way, shape or form to slam dunk this guy, but rather to see things differently, to see a little bit ahead of what God might have ahead of us.

About 30 minutes into the conversation with a cold burger on hand I was labeled a "liberal" christian... oh well I've been called worst... I guess... lolol

I believe that in the coming years God will break church models, that he will find men and women who will speak to his people, whether they'd be Jew or Greek (ok find more contemporary) Latino or American and speak to them in their own language, not as in Spanish or English, but as in something that is relevant to them and their culture.

I think that Guy #1 definitively walked away with some helpful information that at least will make him think twice as to what his real position on this matter is.

9.11 Thoughts

On the brink of a beautiful day here on the Pacific Northwest I take a moment to reflect on what happened 8 yrs ago.

The day started out as sunny as could be, just like today. Now whether you think that 9.11 was the result of arrogance or punishment or conspiracy or combination of all these is irrelevant.

The losses that we sustained 8 yrs ago are not only physical.

As I write this note in the comfort of my home, I think about all the men and women serving in the military. Whether this is their first tour serving or they've made a career in the service, all whose families been affected because daddy is fighting abroad or mommy has been assigned to a new carrier.

Yes, we should fight for the innocent helpless in the middle east.

No, we shouldn't use the memory of the fallen to further our political views or agendas. Whether you stand on the right or the left or the middle we must understand that about 3000 lives were lost on these horrendous attacks. Doesn't that mean something to you?

That brave men and women have volunteer to sacrifice their lives and families putting themselves in harms way to fight for our freedom. That whether you are against or for the war on terror there's an imminent threat on our lives, and that no longer the political diplomacy of the US and Russia will end such a conflict. Don't believe me? Just ask the families who lost loved ones on the bombings in India, subway attacks in London or the train attacks in Spain.

Now, whether you think that GWB is a political genious or a dummy is also irrelevant, the fact remains that OBL has not been captured, even with a democratic congress into it's third year and with mid term elections on the horizon you still don't hear very much or enough things said about this subject. Where is the main stream media on this?

The undeniable result of such atrocity was unity. 9.11 represents for our generation what Pearl Harbor meant for the baby boomers and just like back then we will not be sidelined by fear.

Smile. Be nice. Do something nice for someone, for anyone. Help someone with the yard, carry out someone's garbage, be a friend, help a friend. Let them know that there's someone out there that cares for them (Jesus) and honor the fallen by living the best life that you can possibly live, to the maximum!

=)

Mario.

¡Hola!

I was just checking to see when was the last time I had something in here... wowow Sept 2007?
amazing how time flies.

ok... will now work on updating this blog, however I can't promise how soon I'll update it.

I guess like most ppl nowadays you can find me on
facebook.

I'm starting a photography/videography/software consultant business. I'm very excited about it, and already have come across quite a few interesting characters.
I have a lot on my plate right now, I'm also putting the finishing touches on a web site that I'm going to try to sell services to school districts to control logistics and track data for interpreters.

Over Memorial weekend I went on a really nice Sunday drive and bumped into this on a coffee shop (see pic)

Also I've uploaded some stuff to flickr nothing mayor on it right now but very very excited about it, I'm also working on finishing up my actual biz site but it'll be a couple of weeks before I can upload everything.

I'm also finishing up a database certificate this term, it's been a lot of work but sure worth it.

Oh! and of course I'm still involved with music, I don't think I'll ever put that aside, I've got to have music in my life!!! I think that brings balance (to the force? Shout out to all starwars fans!) to my life.

'till next time >=O)
